Intro: The Skill Mastery Series
The 5 foundational skills to guarantee success in the new economy.
Estimated Reading Time: 5-9 minutes
"Is not about how hard or smart you work — is the value you can provide"
“There isn’t fairness or the meaning of “deserving” in the game of life”
“Just a marketplace that rewards those providing the most impact”
You can work HARD at anything…
But that doesn’t mean it’s useful for the progress of humanity.
This is the delusion of “hard work”
You can put four years of work into getting a degree or ten years into climbing a corporate ladder, but still not be paid what you want.
Instead of taking your future into your own hands…
You whine and complain:
“I deserve to be paid more.”
“I’ve spent 14 years working hard, and this is all I get?”
“I barely have time for my family or enough to take a vacation.”
That’s not how it works — There isn’t such a thing as “deserving”.
This is what actually happened:
10 years (wasted) working for someone else.
Tens of thousands of dollars (wasted) getting a piece of paper.
4 years (wasted) learning outdated information.
No meaningful skills or deep knowledge to show for.
Is not about how hard or smart you work — is the value you can provide.
There isn’t fairness or the meaning of “deserving” in the game of life.
Just a marketplace that rewards those providing the most impact.
This is the core of the labor theory of value.
Money is a unit of value.
And value — is a measure of how much people care about what you do.
Your value equals:
The magnitude of problems you solve.
The results of your solutions.
And your ability to get attention.
If you aren’t happy with how much you make…
Take an honest look at what you contribute to society.
This can happen in the reverser too.
For example:
I was having a conversion yesterday with a close friend of how he let a 6 fig business burn.
He was getting extremely good success — but he didn’t believe he deserved it compared to how little work he was putting in.
“No there’s gotta be something wrong with me or the business”
“It’s impossible to make this amount of money with just 2 hours of work per day”
The point Im trying to make — is that the concept of “deserving” is a limiting believe that affects you on both sides of the spectrum.
Payment isn’t based on effort — but on the level of problems you solve.
What your stuff is “worth” isn’t determined by you.
It is determined by the marketplace.
That being said…
If you want to stay relevant & guarantee the stability of your future…
You need to build high-valuable skills to adapt to any environment.
That brings me to the Skill Mastery Series — a five-part newsletter covering the most foundational skills needed to succeed in the new economy.
These skills are the following:
Entrepreneurship
Distribution
Writing
Sales
Building
With this framework, you will be able to:
Gain control over your time and income.
Leverage writing skills to articulate your value.
Build distribution & get your work in front of the right audience.
Master the sales process to persuade people to buy your stuff.
That being said, let's dive in:
Disclaimer:
We will only cover the following skills on a shallow surface level.
This is simply — an introduction.
We will dive deeper into each one in the following newsletters.
So stay tuned for that.
Step 1: Become an Entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship is the ONLY way to gain control over your time and income.
In a job — your employer controls the product, tasks, and customer acquisition.
Which means…
All of your efforts will only contribute to the growth of someone else’s project.
Not your own.
Entrepreneurship is the act of building something for yourself.
And business tends to be the most common vehicle for that.
Entrepreneurs don’t worry about the skills that will be relevant in 20 years.
They focus on being visionaries, strategists, and innovators.
They look for a problem in the world that has not been solve yet.
(or it is — but poorly)
They present a better solution…
And ask for payment (contact details and/or money) in exchange.
In a few words…
The entrepreneur gets paid by:
Doing what they love.
Doing what they are good at.
And doing what the world needs.
The best entrepreneurs in the world have the following traits:
Self-Experimentation: The solution of complex problems thru trial & error.
Self-Development: A never-ending pursuit for greatness.
Self-Reliance: Relentless execution & endurance.
Self-Awareness: Understanding of how the world “actually” works.
Self-Education: Use of curiosity & interest-based education.
Self-Sufficiency: The design of a self-sustaining ideal lifestyle.
Self-Mastery: Dedication to mastering all aspects of yourself.
If you noticed — It is all internal “self” work.
There isn't a career that focuses so much on self-improvement than entrepreneurship.
Master yourself = Master the world.
Step 2: Build Distribution.
Entrepreneurs often fail because they focus solely on skill-building without any customer acquisition.
You see…
Distribution is the act of transferring attention.
This is an extensive topic so don’t worry if this doesn't make sense yet.
When starting your business…
Don’t obsess over logos and websites.
Your job is to:
Create a product (build)
Put it in front of people (write)
Ask for payment. (sales)
That’s it.
When building distribution — there are 2 main factors:
Product: Create something people need.
Attention: Ensure the right audience knows about it.
In business…
Having a product but no audience—or vice versa—won’t generate income.
Both things are required.
Step 3: Learn to Write.
The foundation of ANY marketing is “writing”.
The tweets you post.
The emails you send.
The carousels you design.
The websites you launch.
“Writing” sits at the center of them all.
Writing is the ability to:
Condense ideas into a digestible format.
Present a persuasive & engaging argument.
Influence the behavior of the reader to take an action.
This skill also transfers to other areas of your business.
It helps you articulate value, build distribution, and develop ideas.
Posts, threads, emails, outlines, modules, advertisements, direct messages, books, video scripts, and the rest — all start with writing.
At the start…
Your focus should be on building an audience
(Is free + it only takes 2 hours x/day.)
You can do this by posting educational, inspirational, or entertaining content.
This is how you capture “attention”.
And getting attention…
Is how you sell your product/service.
Step 4: Learn to Sell.
“If you don’t sell your product, you’ll sell someone else’s.”
Sales = Survival.
Sales isn’t:
High-pressure tactics.
Manipulation of truth.
Acting like a car dealership salesman.
It’s about helping people make informed decisions.
The sales process includes:
Making people aware of a problem.
Highlighting how it affects their life.
Introducing your solution.
Providing proof it works.
Inspiring them to act.
Sales is the act of persuasion.
Is how you convince people to buy your stuff.
Step 5: Learn to Build.
“Humans are wired to be builders. We have a natural tendency to create something of our own. Something that yields bigpositive results in our lives & the lives of others. “
In short — You need a “project”.
A project is a tangible hierarchy of goals that orders your mind.
It can be a product, a goal, or an entire business.
For example:
Getting to 15% body fat.
Building a new website.
Off-road trip across the nation.
By presenting yourself with a project…
You get the ability to discover what problems to solve & what information you need to solve those problems. Problems that you wouldn’t notice otherwise.
It provides a solid framework to guide your progress.
That being said…
When it comes to a product…
You need to focus on 1 thing: Value
It’s the minimum you need to initiate a transaction.
You trade “money” in exchange for “value”.
People vote with their dollars & contact details.
If your product isn’t valuable — they won’t vote for you.
There are only 3 ways to do it:
Solving existing problems.
Improving existing solutions.
Or create something completely new.
The choice is yours.
Ultimate Action List:
If you forget everything in this article, remember this checklist:
Step 1: Become an Entrepreneur:
Develop foundational self-development skills.
Focus on being a visionary, strategist, and innovator rather than just working hard.
Look for unsolved problems in the world and present a better solution.
Step 2: Build Distribution:
Create a product that people need.
Ensure the right audience knows about it.
Build an audience & share your work.
Step 3: Learn to Write:
Develop the ability to condense ideas into a digestible format.
Present persuasive and engaging arguments.
Influence the behavior of readers to take action.
Step 4: Learn to Sell:
Make people aware of a problem.
Highlight how the problem affects their life.
Introduce your solution and provide proof it works.
Inspire them to take action.
Step 5: Learn to Build:
Present yourself with a project.
Use it as a framework to guide your progress.
Use the goal to discover the problems that need to be solved.
There you have it.
