The Value Proposition Framework

How to clearly articulate what you offer to your dream buyer.

Estimated Reading Time: (3-5 minutes)

In today's economy, it's all about attention.

The winners will be those who master the game of:

  • Attracting

  • Retaining

  • And converting attention.

But here's the challenge:

Our attention span is becoming smaller and smaller…

Averaging less than 7 seconds in 2023.

Standing out has become increasingly difficult in areas like:

  • Outreach

  • And especially — Social Media.

It’s one of the most painful challenges solopreneurs and entrepreneurs face.

So how do we fight this?

The answer lies in your Unique Value Proposition.

Today I want to show you how to make your brand and business stand out - by serving a specific audience with a specific problem.

In a few words…

We’re going to craft your unique value proposition.

And as always…

I have a simple step-by-step for you.

I call it The Value Proposition Framework.

With this framework, you will be able to:

  • Stand out in social media

  • Capture and direct more attention to your “stuff”.

  • And how to clearly articulate what you offer to your dream buyer.

That being said, let's dive in:

Warning: This is a very long framework, I recommend sitting down, getting rid of all distractions, and fully focusing on understanding the key principles of what makes a Value Proposition.

I’m giving all of this information for free…

So you don't need to pay thousands of dollars for coaching, courses, or digital products.

What Is a Unique Value Proposition?

A Unique Value Proposition… Is the unique differentiator that sets you apart from your competition.

But it's not just about being different or finding a niche.

It's about being unique in a way that matters to your target audience.

It should help them answer the question:

Why should I choose your business over countless other options?

Why is it important?

In a saturated market with similar products and services…

Your Unique Value Proposition serves as a major factor in attracting potential customers.

Without it, you risk blending in and being overlooked.

Let’s imagine you’re great at Marketing.

If you go out and tell the world — “I help you get more sales”.

You’re not giving your prospects any reason to choose you over other options.

Anyone can say the same thing.

When I was crafting my Unique Value Proposition.

I did a simple exercise: I compared my strengths to my competitor’s weaknesses to understand what made my business unique.

And then I filled a gap.

I have spent years developing websites, increasing traffic, and generating sales for several clients. But everyone in my market was doing the same.

That is when I pivot from the “traditional marketing agency”

To a “Sales Funnel Builder”.

First draft:

“Helping you scale your business with Sales Funnels & Proven Systems”

This is the same message I have on my Threads BIO.

Planning to improve it thou.

Something along the lines of:

Helping you generate (outcome) in (X time) with Sales Funnels and Systems.

A Unique Value Proposition allows you to:

  • Target a specific demographic

  • Justify your pricing strategy

  • Build a strong brand identity

  • Gain a competitive edge

  • Differentiate your business from similar services

Steps to Identify Your UVP

As you can see, identifying your UVP isn't just about picking something random and deciding, “This is my UVP!”

No — It requires a deep understanding of your business combined with market research.

How to Find Your UVP

  1. Research: First, find out what your competitors are offering, and identify gaps.

When you look at their reviews, what do the negative reviews say?

When you look at their products and services, what’s missing?

  2. Skill Assessment: Make a list of your skills, your experiences, and any unique angles. When you compare that to your market research, where do your skills fill a gap?

Consider that as an option for your UVP.

  3. Audience analysis: Jump on social media and find people asking questions about the unique thing you’re good at.

Practice telling those people exactly how you can help them overcome their specific challenges.

And listen to what you hear back.

    Does your solution resonate?

Remember, your UVP should be:

  • Relevant to your customer (not about you!)

  • Not easy to replicate by competitors

  • Easily demonstrated through your product or service (tell and show)

Common Mistakes to Avoid

In trying to identify your UVP, it's easy to fall into traps that can mess things up.

Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

  1. Just Picking Something: Just because you “pick” a UVP doesn’t make it something you’re actually good at.

Like when I see “personal branding expert” on someone’s profile who doesn’t have a personal brand. That’s silly.

  2. Being Too Vague: Don’t use terms like "best quality", "excellent service", “I help businesses” or “I help people”. These aren’t differentiators.

    They’re broad, vague, and meaningless.

You help a (specific avatar) achieve (specific outcome).

  3. Overcomplicating: Your UVP should be easy to understand and communicate.

You should be able to say it to someone who needs your help, and they should understand exactly what you do, and who you do it for.

A well-defined UVP should attract the right customers and repel the wrong ones.

It acts as a simple lead qualification filter.

Takeaway

Finding your Unique Value Proposition is not easy.

It requires an honest assessment of what you’re really good at, compared to gaps in the market where your competitors are failing (or maybe just missing an opportunity).

Remember — your UVP is your calling card.

It’s something that captures the specifics of who you are and what you offer.

And it’s the foundation of a successful online business.

So take the time to think about what makes you unique - identify it, refine it, and most importantly - put it front and center everywhere.

There you have it, the Value Proposition Framework.
